News for the 27th Dallas Race Week

 6-20-08 :First Day Of Summer

6-20-08 : The Final Night of Race Week is upon us.

The winds played tricks with our minds on thursday night with challenging light air at the beginning and end of the race with fair breeze on the middle two legs of the course.  Race 5 will remembered as the success of A Fleet.  9 out of the top 10 were in the A Fleet.  Did they know something we didn't?

Top Finishers for Race 5:  Tom Tatum, Kenny Wolfe, and Matt Mayo.

Chili's brought great appetizers, Chandlers and Budweiser provided ice cold beer, and we even had Massage Envy doing free chair massages.

Thank you to the City of Rockwall for making Thursday night possible.  Their support has helped Dallas Race Week with much more exposure to sailing and rotary.

Tonight is the last night of Dallas Race Week...

The Rib Dinner can still be reserved by contacting the yacht club.  We will have music and ice cold beer with the Trophy Presentation, Sponsored by HomeBank@, at approx. 9:30pm.

6-19-08

Unreal, absolulely stunning, and undoubtably one of the best Dallas Race Week parties in 27 years.  The Hilton Bella Harbor blew it out of the park last night for the Rockwall Breakfast Rotarians, Sailors, and Sponsors.  As the Presenting Sponsor, the Hilton Bella Harbor hosted the Wednesday night Grant Announcement Party, where Committee Co-Chair, Katie Brewer, and Rotary President Mike Lucas, gave away over $8,000 to Grant Receipants.

The winds were again perfect for a long 5 mile race course from Rush Creek Yacht Club to the Harbor Lighthouse.  The boats rafted up for the post-race party up the hill at the Hilton Bella Harbor.

Top finishers for the Race 4 were: Dan Malak, Mike Jones, and Greg Olsen.

6-18-08 -

(The Top Finishers shown here approaching the Rush Creek breakwater)

Winds were again perfectly out of the North for the point to point race from the Hilton to Rush Creek Yacht Club.  47 Yachts jockeyed around the Harbor for the 7pm start off the Lighthouse.  Very close racing all the way down the lake.

Top Finishers for Race 3 were: Tom Tatum, Robert Williams, and Jacques Roy.

The week is starting to heat up between the top racers for the Overall 1st Place trophy at the end of the week.  See Current Overall Results -Click Here

Tonight all the Race Week yachts will race from Rush Creek back to the Hilton for a spectacular post race party.  The Seawolf will take sponsors for a cruise at 6:45pm leaving from the Hilton, returning for the party as the sailboats finish off the Lighthouse.

6-17-08 - The 2nd night of racing was again met with beautiful breeze but slightly more easterly than the night before.  The 5 mile race course provided some spectacular views for both sailors and spectators.

Top finishers for Race #2 were Katie and Billy Self, Dan Malak on Orion (currently winning Overall), and Nigel Brown on Soap Opera.

The Monday Party was at the Chandlers Landing Marina with the Beer provided by Birdsong Electric and Chick Fil A donated 200 chicken sandwiches. Great Party!

Tuesday is going to be a special night of racing starting from the Hilton Bella Harbor on a 5 mile race course to Rush Creek Yacht Club, where the RCYC Aux Fleet will host the post race party at the Blue Crane.  Join us for pizza and keg beer donated by the generous members of Rush Creek Yacht Club.

Check the Notice Board under Racing Results for more updates.

The 27th Dallas Race Week is well under way with perfect winds on Sunday Evening to start the week of racing.

Top finishes for the 1st race were Mike Jones, Jacques Roy, and Dan Malak.

The Presenting Sponsor Hilton Bella Harbor, and the Registration Sponsor, Lake Pointe Health Network received loud praise from all the sailors at the Skipper's Meeting prior to the first race.

Monday Night is the Park Place Development Sponsor Night with Chick-Fil-A donating 200 chicken sandwiches for the post-race party.

***The Monday Night party is being hosted by the Marina at Chandlers Landing under the Covered Deck on the southside of the Marina Building. After you put your boat away, walk down for a beer and sandwich at the Marina.
